California STEM Symposium 2016: October 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center

The Annual California Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Symposium is hosted by The Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation in partnership with the California Department of Education. School facilities professionals and educators are encouraged to present new, modernized, or modified STEM school facilities and learning environments.  We are seeking engaging, quality presentations to share school designs that enhance one or more STEM topics, including but not limited to, technology integration and infrastructure upgrades, career technical education schools, and partnerships with schools and districts that have designed or modified facilities to support STEM learning. Presenters must submit proposals online no later than Friday, May 20, 2016.

Governor Releases May Revision Budget, Is Silent on the Future of State Facilities Funding

Today the Governor released the May Revision budget update.  His budget estimates an additional $6.7 billion in revenues above the January proposal, $5.5 billion of which will go to K-12 and community colleges under Proposition 98.  This increases the Proposition 98 minimum guarantee by $241 million in 2013-14, $3.1 billion in 2014-15, and $2.7 billion in 2015-16, for revised minimum guarantee levels of $58.9 billion, $66.3 billion, and $68.4 billion respectively.  The Proposition 98 maintenance factor is reduced to $722 million.  Continue reading

Priority Funding Filing Period Begins May 13, 2015

Ninth Priority Funding Period

The ninth Priority Funding filing period begins, Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Priority Funding requests with original signatures must be physically received by the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) before the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on June 11, 2015. It is recommended that school districts monitor any mailed letters by tracking the parcel and receiving delivery confirmation. Districts that submit valid requests for their unfunded approved projects during this filing period will be eligible for Priority Funding apportionments from July 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015.
