The minutes from the October 16, 2014 meeting were approved unanimously.

 

Executive Officer Statement

Lisa Silverman provided updates on the following:

  • Status of Fund Releases for Priority Funding Apportionments – The August priority funding apportionments provided $100.2 million for 34 projects and 21 school districts.  Districts that received an apportionment were required to submit a valid Fund Release Authorization (Form SAB 50-05) by Tuesday, November 18, 2014.

Executive Officer Statement

Lisa Silverman provided updates on the following:

-          Status of Fund Releases – The State Treasurer’s Office held a general obligation bond sale on October 7, 2014, and the School Facility Program received $73 million as anticipated in the August Priority Funding Apportionment item, which provided apportionments worth $100.2 million for 34 projects in 21 school districts.  Districts that received an apportionment must submit a valid Fund Release Authorization (Form SAB 50-05) by Tuesday, November 18, 2014. The minutes from the June 25, 2014 meeting were approved unanimously.

 

Executive Officer Statement

Lisa Silverman provided updates on the following:

-          Emergency Repair Program – The State Allocation Board (Board) is approving funding for 489 ERP projects worth $93.4 million for 54 local education agencies.  Fund releases will be automatically processed to recipients.  $188.5 million was provided for ERP in the 2014 Budget Act, and the remaining funds are expected to be available as early as October.

Conference Committee Acts on Fund Transfer Proposal

June 6, 2014

On Wednesday, June 4, the Conference Committee took action on the Governor’s budget proposal to transfer the remaining bond authority from four boutique programs to the new construction and modernization programs.  Budget items for which the Senate and Assembly took different actions are referred to the Conference Committee to be resolved.  For the fund transfer, Conference Committee adopted a compromise that includes elements from the actions of both houses.

-          Fund Releases for Priority Funding Apportionments – 103 projects in 44 school districts received apportionments on April 7, 2014.  These districts must submit a valid fund release (Form SAB 50-05) by Monday, July 7, 2014 or be subject to non-participation regulations. Continue reading

2014 Workshops and Webinars for New Charter School
Facilities Program Filing Period

The following update is provided courtesy of the of the Department of General Services, Office of Public School Construction. 

The State Allocation Board (SAB) approved a new application filing period for the Charter School Facilities Program (CSFP) from April 1, 2014 to May 30, 2014.

To provide information regarding the CSFP and the application process, the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) will hold a series of webinars and public workshops throughout the state beginning in January 2014.  An outreach schedule has been posted on the CSFP web page. New Charter School Facilities Program Filing Period in 2014

The following information was sent out on Monday, December 2 from the Department of General Services - Office of Public School Construction.

At its November 2013 meeting, the State Allocation Board (SAB) approved a new application filing period for the Charter School Facilities Program (CSFP). The CSFP provides preliminary apportionments (reservation of funds) for new construction projects and rehabilitation of district owned existing facilities that are at least 15 years old. CSFP applications will be accepted by the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) between April 1, 2014 and May 30, 2014.  Charter schools or school districts filing on behalf of a charter school may apply.

Prior to the April 1, 2014 start of the application filing period, the OPSC will have workshops to provide outreach on the CSFP and the application process.  Once the specific dates and times are finalized, the information will be posted on the OPSC website and a notification email will be sent.

Once the total amount of funding available for this application period has been determined by the SAB, a notification email will be sent.
